I think the Golden State Warriors winning a fourth NBA championship by defeating the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals is a bit problematic for Kevin Durant and his legacy… However, I still have trouble finding room for Steph Curry in my all-time top ten: Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lebron James. This was my response: “Matthew, I disagree about Elgin Baylor because Baylor was even more revolutionary than Steph. Baylor was the prototype for Dr. J, which he admitted himself. Elgin was his favorite player and the one he wanted to be like. And of course Dr. J was the model for Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins and Kobe Bryant. Elgin also invented what we now call the Euro-step. Elgin was just as good a scorer as his more famous copyists, and he was a much better rebounder.”
